SUMMARY OF THE OCTOBER 11, 2011 WORK SESSION MEETING

OF THE BATTLE CREEK-IDA GROVE COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Battle Creek-Ida Grove Board President, Berny Sohm called the work session to order at 6:30 p.m. on behalf of the Battle Creek-Ida Grove board and the meeting was called to order on behalf of the Odebolt-Arthur board by Traci Bengford. Those present included Jeff Rasmussen, Stephanie Konradi, Brian Riessen, Bev Bower, Dani Trimble and Kathy Leonard. Also in attendance were Naomi Lozier and Jann Murphy.

The group watched a video on school finance presented by Larry Sigel from the Iowa School Finance Information Services. Questions and discussion were held periodically during the presentation.

Trimble also discussed the following topics and provided handouts pertaining to school finance for both BCIG and OA: current fund balances, property tax rates, spending authority, certified enrollment, and supplementary weighting and operational sharing.

Other topics covered included open meetings laws, parliamentary procedure, consent agenda and board member/community relationships.

Sohm closed the work session at 6:46 p.m.
