🎉 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬! 📊
Yesterday, our accounting students attended and competed in the 𝐈𝐨𝐰𝐚 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐜𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲. Throughout the day, they had the opportunity to network with and learn from area accounting professionals.

During the competition portion of the event, students were given 80 minutes to analyze a case study involving financial statement fraud, internal controls, and the fraud triangle. Teams developed a presentation outlining current risks and recommendations to mitigate fraud, then presented their findings to industry professionals.

Braeden Green, Journey Iversen, and Jadyn Rigsbee participated in the annual Morningside SMART science/math competition. They tested their biology, chemistry, physics, and math skills both individually and as a team. Current Morningside STEM majors held a Q&A panel over lunch with all participants.

Congrats to Jadyn for placing 2nd in the chemistry competition!
